Heath Talk : Mental Health Benefits of Physical Fitness

We did this health talk on 27th of March 2021, Saturday in collaboration with Aero Freaks Fitness Studio. It was attended by women across all age groups. We started off with a bit of a workout for that adrenaline rush. Mrs Monica Soni, who was the co-organizer and a Reebok Certified Group Fitness Trainer, took the first part of the session. She highlighted the physical health benefits of the physical fitness explaining its importance for each organ of the body. Then I talked about the mental health benefits of the same. Finally there was a very interactive Q and A round. Lastly we concluded the session with a group photo.

What a session! Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!

  1. I attended this via Zoom. I found it informative. It created a link between mental & physical health, seamlessly; both Dr Apala & Ms Monica Soni- a Reebok certified trainer are amply equipped knowledgeable skilled. I enjoyed the format and ergonomics of the session I observed on zoom. A well planned session that was inclusive. I would encourage people to attend a session- the cognitive aspects put in at play are fun! Unlocking the mind and it’s physical potential. Good going Dr Apala & Ms Monica! Much needed in these times especially.

  3. Thankful to Dr. Apala and Monika for arranging this wonderful session. We need to normalise discussions on mental health issues. Almost all of us go through some degree of such issues and open discussions not only help us accept and understand, but also motivates to work towards solutions.

Dr Apala is immensely knowledgeable and experienced about the various facets of mental health For me as a Reebok certified Group fitness trainer since a longest time I have not only strongly believed but also experienced the most amazing deep intricate interconnection between Mental with Physical Health As I always say this in my classes”Fitness is not always about the body but it’s more about the mind” The self motivation passion commitment dedication and the will to engage in physical fitness originates first from your mind I discussed the multiple benefits of Physical Fitness for the body listing them out one by one besides how the good feel happiness hormone endorphins dopamine sertonin reduce the stress in the mind enabling maximum benefits of the physical workouts to the individual
    I started off with a short mini workout on a 150 BPM (beats per minute) music to elevate the heart rate This exercise was conducted with a purposeful reason based on the science of Mental and Physical fitness
    Overall the session turned out immensely enjoyable and a rewarding experience for me as an Instructor Hopefully Dr Apala and me will continue with more such sessions in near future
